It depends on where the aneurysm is if its abdominal (the most common) most surgeons recommend 5 cm before surgery. Depending on the condition of the patient the surgeon may opt to watch it and if it doesn't increase in size surgery may not be indicated. Unfortunately there isn't anything that will decrease the size or cure the problem short of surgery.
